TROJAN GRAINS OPENS UP FLAGSHIP CAFÉ AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

INNOVATIVE CEREAL BAR MAKES ITS DEBUT AT UNIVERSITY

Los Angeles, CA, November 7, 2006 – The life of a typical college student is filled with class, parties, and extracurricular activities. Regular meals and healthy eating tend to get lost in their erratic schedules often leading to fatigue, which is the last thing a Trojan needs. Trojan Grains, the creation of a few hungry USC students, is a convenient and healthy café that would serve the nutritional needs of the typical college student, faculty, and staff.

Trojan Grains is a new food service organization that serves cereal as its main menu option. Its warm kitchen interior with its cabinets and countertops allow customers to see
the different cereals and toppings Trojan Grains has to offer.  With its early hours, customers can preorder their cereals via the internet and have their orders ready the next morning to take to class and enjoy. Also the quick assembly line cereal bar where customers build their own meals makes Trojan Grains a fun and easy experience. There is an endless number of cereal and topping combinations and healthy baked goods that can be eaten on-the-go in their convenient portable packages

.

Products and services

There are over 30 different types of cereals, 20 different toppings such as granola or chocolate chips, a variety of frozen and regular yogurts, over 10 different types of milks (including lactose free and soy), baked goods, coffee, and juices.   The cereals range from Cocoa Puffs to All Bran and can be mixed to the customers’ liking. Toppings can be added to yogurt, hot cereal and cold cereals to add a little something to the meal. All of these custom made items are packaged into a container with a handle that can be resealed and easily transported.

The internet ordering system is also a feature that is tailored to our technology savvy generation. Students can order their bagel, yogurt, custom blended oatmeal, or cereal online and have it ready by a specific time, and orders can be purchased with discretionary funds, cutting down on waiting time and allowing students to get a little more sleep time.

Opening of Trojan Grains headquarters

Trojan Grains’ headquarters will open in January 2008 next to Trojan Grounds in McCarthy Quad on the University of Southern California campus.  This space will be converted into a bar-like space with wireless internet and seating at the window with a warm home like atmosphere. Construction will begin January 2007 with the pending approval of USC financial services.

Future locations

College students represent a large and profitable market that Trojan Grains plans to explore and continue to expand into. Trojan Grains plans to open cafes in other universities that lack good food and snack resources. Campuses from the west coast to east coast like UC San Diego or Boston University are viable options for new store locations.

Trojan Grains has also secured a partnership with Kellogg’s who has created a reputation as a delicious and healthy breakfast food brand with their “Healthy Beginnings” and “Heart Smart” programs. This partnership will help in gaining new and healthier cereals and allow Trojan Grains to explore new breakfast food options to expand their menu.
