-Kennedy wanted to merge with Russian space program in collaborative effort to reach the moon; in general soften relations with Russia

-Kennedy threatened old military-industrial power groups

-Kennedy had analyzed Vietnam situation; figured people of South would have to fight for their own country if they wanted it, with US support

            -thus set up procedures for NSAM 263 to progressively bring home bulk of American personnel by the end of 1965

-By end of 1963, clear that Kennedy would win next election/that Bobby and Teddy were coming right afterwards

-Roles of multiple agencies

            -Prouty-no agency played a role as an agency; a certain small group coalesces and they are given an order

                        -cf. Mongoose program with objective of removing Castro in Cuba involved individuals from multiple agencies

            -people from those agencies would have been called upon

-Secret Service has specific manuals for protection of the President

            -when necessary, augmented with specially trained US military elements

            -w/Kennedy assassination: protection procedures broke down (e.g., president’s automobile should always travel 44 mph, or SS should take special        precautions

            -Secret Service were not asked to do the job, and they didn’t tell anyone to do it (make it seem like it was Secret Service’s fault)

            -Also many false Secret Service there, who, e.g., confiscated film; also fake police

                        -who had the means to do this

-Who, how, why killed the President?

-Others wrote that autopsy of damage to Kennedy inaccurately

-LIFE magazine reversed slides of Zapruder film

-Whole thing is filled with cover stories (WHO HAD THE MEANS TO DO THIS?)

-The Secret Service studies presidential route in any city for at least 90 days over time

            -careful study of possible angles of fire

            -try to reduce corners, go straight (as was the announced Dallas route)

            -thus very odd that route would be changed at last minute (adding turns); will not put President in a dangerous situation

            -100s of the Secret Service on original route were left stranded as planned route was not followed

-Photos of tramps being picked up at railroad yards (but records of their arrests were nonexistent)

            -Thousands of photographs taken in Dallas-researchers have attempted to bring them together, identify the subjects of photos

            -Several amazing pictures; one of most amazing is the tramp photo (but they’re dressed in brand new clothes, police have fake costumes with

incorrect insignia, carrying wrong shotguns, police don’t lead prisoners into sheriff’s office [unrelated])

-Question: why is man in business suit in picture walking lackadaisically (Prouty recognized him as Lansdale)

            -Prouty had worked with him (he retired from Air Force right around them

            -strange eye-catch between “Landsdale” and tramps, a knowing expression (was Landsdale reinsuring employees?)

            -many people confirmed it was Landsdale (Asst. Sec. Defense for Special Ops; had almost singlehandedly set up presidents of S Vietnam,

            Phillipines; expert on counter-insurgency, special forces, etc.)

-Why did Landsdale send Prouty (worker in covert/special ops) and others to South Pole?-did he want Prouty out of Dallas

            -Also, almost all of Kennedy’s cabinet were out of town; many other officials as well

-Experience in New Zealand (Prouty was there when he found out)

            -NZ newspaper came out 3-4 hours after President’s death

            -note: news that comes out immediately has less time for being massaged/covered up

            -one reporter said he heard automatic rifle fire (such a reporter would have been experienced) vs. Warren Commission lone gunmen with 3 shots

            over 6.8 seconds

            -print that Oswald had defected to Russia, worked in Dallas, worked with Communist Cubans (incredible details) as well as picture of Oswald

            well-dressed in business suit (rather than casual dress when he was picked up in Dallas)-where did paper get this information?

            -also said that Oswald was suspect for murder (but this charge was only formally made many hours later)-who had written and packaged that

            cover story prior to the President’s death and distributed it worldwide

            -paper was filled with incredible detail about Oswald (coming from British AP)

Cf. Hinckley-took hours for information to come out of papers with regard to him, whereas Oswald info was out in minutes
