About Me

I am currently a junior at the University of Southern California.  I am relatively new to the teaching program as this is my first semester with Teacher Education coursework.  Formerly a business major, I recently realized that my true calling is education.  I have years of experience working as a mentor, after school program director, tutor, and advisor for students ranging in age 5 to 18.  My most recent experience comes from working with Upward Bound in Pasadena, CA, a program that encourages and assists first-generation, low income students in to university.

My diverse background, half-Pakistani and half-Bolivian, but born and raised in Pasadena has led to my open mind and ability to take the perspective of others very naturally.  I have attended private school, public school with a very high SES student population, and graduated in 2002 from a public high school in Pasadena, CA with a low SES student population.  My experiences have led me to strongly believe in public education as the ideal structure for all types of students to develop fully and most aware of their roles and responsibilities in our society.
