1) We will take the lead in achieving victory in the temple issue based on
unity within the student division. Each SGI-USA student wants to learn how
to maintain Nichiren Daishonin's true teachings and the determination to
never compromise our integrity -- this way, the truth can be passed on to
future generations.
2) We will hold chanting sessions about the issue and pray for the temple
members. We will also chant for the development of kosen-rufu at our
schools and in our districts.
3) We will study the Daishonin's writings and information related to this
issue in SGI-USA publications like the World Tribune, Living Buddhism,
pamphlets and e-mail newsletters, so that we can clearly understand the
difference between the Daishonin's Buddhism and Nichiren Shoshu's new
teachings. And we will seek the answers to any questions we have about
this issue to increase our understanding.
4) Our study of this issue will help us study this Buddhism more and
therefore be able to share it with more people. With more study, we can
confidently talk about this issue and this Buddhism with anyone, including
temple members, SGI-USA members who don't know about this issue and
nonmembers, using our own words and striving to always understand where
everyone is coming from.
5) We will increase the SGI's presence on our campuses by introducing the
organization's activities to our professors and classmates, and by holding
seminars on the Daishonin's Buddhism. Starting student clubs on our
campuses and participating with other school clubs in various activities,
including interfaith activities, can help us to accomplish this.
6) We will make sure that our college libraries have excellent materials
available on this Buddhism. If they do not, we will work with the
organization to try to donate appropriate materials to the libraries.
7) We will apply what we've learned from this issue to our daily lives and
show actual proof, especially in our studies. We will become the top
students in our respective fields -- our actual proof will speak for
itself.
8) Even though this is a serious issue, it is a joyous one -- it is about
upholding the truth. We will take the lead in this issue with the greatest
joy, making it fun for everyone!
