Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Academic Honors Assembly of Program Board! Our assembly functions as a congregating forum for USC's diverse academic student groups, as well as a support organization that provides event programming consultations and funding assistance to them. We aim to foster an atmosphere of curiosity and intellectual responsibility at USC by sponsoring our own programs that range from research fairs to faculty panel discussions in addition to providing campus-wide publicity, advocacy, and networking resources for our member organizations.

  • Globalization with Manuel Castells & Saskia Sassen -- April 7, 7-9p, Annenberg Auditorium -- You've heard all the yes-men and political pundits talk about "globalization" - the world is flat, alright, we get it. But is that really all there is to it? Now find out what's really going on.

Join us in welcoming our two world-famous professors, Manuel Castells of USC's Annenberg School of Communications and Saskia Sassen of Columbia University and the London School of Economics, and listen to their thoughts on what's really happening to our world as they draw upon their expertise in the fields of communication technology, economics, and human migration to provide informed commentary on what may be the zeitgeist of our time.
  • Discussing Darfur: History & Intervention -- April 15, 7-9p, Davidson Conference Center -- Human atrocities are executed so long as those with agency remain ignorant, and yet it is also true that ill-informed intervention can do more harm than good. Come hear our diverse panelists speak on the political and historical contexts that frame the War in Darfur to educate yourself on the best ways to help relieve that conflict - because knowledge can help prevent tragedy, too.
  • CONTROVERSY: War on Terror -- April 22, 7-9p, Doheny Intellectual Commons -- Join us for a discussion about wars of ideology and the sociopolitical cultures that encourage them. Panelists will include Professors Dagmar Barnouw (Comparative Literature & German), Johanna Blakley (Norman Lear Center), and Thomas Gustafson (English).
  • Humanities vs. Sciences Capture the Flag 3! -- Back for a third time! -- May 2, 7-9p, Tommy Trojan -- Celebrate the end of the last day of class with Capture the Flag! Free Food!

Is your major the best... the top-dog... the cream of the crop... the crowning glory... the unrivaled contender... NUMBER ONE? The Academic Culture Assembly of Program Board proudly presents a school-wide Capture the Flag extravaganza. The scientists studying chemistry, psychology, engineering, and the like will take on the armies of the arts, humanities, business, social studies, and related majors. If you're a double major who would fall under either army, we salute you, intrepid scholar. But pick the army for which your heart lies.

    Humanities - Wear Yellow
    Sciences - Wear Red
  • Study Nights -- Dude, take a break from finals studying! -- May 5, 9p, McCarthy Quad -- The Academic Culture Assembly, Asian Pacific American Student Assembly, and the International Students Assembly are providing FREE Subway, Drinks, Boba, Popcorn Chicken, Bluebooks, Scantrons, AND MASSAGES!
