Troy Philippines' PACN is an evening of performances aimed at spreading Filipino cultural awareness to the surrounding community. This student-run production showcases renditions of authentic Filipino folk dances that represent various regions of the Philippines, such as the Spanish-influenced waltzes in Luzon and the Muslim-inspired dances of the Moro people in Mindanao. The traditional dances are intertwined with vocal performances and a captivating skit, making it a night full of entertainment for all people interested in celebrating and embracing the beautiful culture of the Philippines.
This years show entitled "Paglalakbay", follows the story of Joy. Born in raised in California, the American lifestyle is all Joy knows until her half time dad comes back to the states to change her world. Her father is an up and coming artist based in the US until better opportunities send the small family back to Manila for Jay’s artwork. They are moving to the Philippines, his homeland, during the summer after her junior year of high school. It is time for Joy to meet a family she’s never known, including her older sister Hazel, her dad’s first child. Joy isn’t as excited as her mother, Simone, to leave everything she’s ever known behind to start a new chapter in life; but, when faced with no options, the only choice she has is to adapt and survive.
