Basics

Fast combos of strikes and blocks

Jumping Turning Hook Kick (turning reverse roundhouse), Jumping 360 Back Kick

Demonstrate complete control of whole body: Arms (strikes), Legs (kicks), and Balance.

Execute slow motion: Front, Roundhouse, Side, Back Kicks.

Self-Defense

One-Step:

Expert in all previous techniques. Should be able to improvise and come up with new techniques (or variations of old techniques)

Grabs:  Expert in all previous techniques. Should be able to improvise.

Defense against knives and clubs.

Take-downs against roundhouse and Turning Hook Kick (turning reverse roundhouse)

 

Sparring Step Drills

-         Defend against roundhouse with Turning Hook Kick (and jumping Turning Hook)

-         Jumping 360 back kick

-         Front leg 2-3 kick combos without touching floor

Free Sparing

a)      Contact Sparring with full protective equipment

b)      Controlled sparring with no contact – must demonstrate ability to control kick: kick fast but stop within an inch of target (or lightly tap target).

c)      Controlled sparring against 2 opponents.

Board Break

Jumping Turning Hook Kick (turning reverse roundhouse) and combination of old board breaks, including front and roundhouse kicks.

Other

- Must have represented USC TKD in at least 1 tournament in both sparring and poomse.

- Must have taken part in at least 1 USC TKD demo.

- Must actively helps/participate in running the club (i.e. officer or support member)

- Must have had at least 1 semester teaching experience in USC TKD.

From Joon Bi:

1.       Move forward with L leg and execute L forearm guarding block with L back stance.

2.       Adjust to L front stance and execute R middle punch.

3.       Jump with L leg and execute jumping R low and L high front kicks in one jump (kihap on the 2nd kick) and land forward to L front stance with L out-to-in middle block.

4.       Execute R middle punch and L middle punch.

5.       Move forward with R leg and execute R middle punch with R front stance.

6.       Turn 270° L with L leg to 3 o’clock and execute L down block and R high inside middle block simultaneously with eyes focused on the down block in a L straight line back stance.

7.       Adjust to L front stance & execute slow high R uppercut (L hand supports) w/ L front stance.

8.       Turn 180° R with R leg stepping towards the L and L going out to 9 o’clock and execute R down block  and L high inside middle block simultaneously with eyes focused on the down block in a R straight line R back stance.

9.       Adjust to R front stance & execute slow high L uppercut (R hand supports) w/ R front stance.

10.   Turn 90° L with R leg to 12 o’clock & execute L knifehand guarding block w/ L back stance.

11.   Adjust to L front stance and execute R middle punch.

12.   Execute R front kick and plant the foot to the previous position.  Move L leg half step backward and execute R middle push block with R cat stance.

13.   Turn 90 degrees to the L with L leg to 9 o’clock and execute L knifehand guarding block with L cat stance.

14.   Execte L front kick and follow with R middle punch with L front stance.

15.   Move L leg half step backward and execute L middle push block with L cat stance.

16.   Turn 180° R w/ R leg to 3 o’clock and execute R knifehand guarding block with R cat stance.

17.   Execute R front kick and follow with L middle punch with R front stance.

18.   Move R leg half step backward and execute R middle push block with R cat stance.

19.   Turn 90° R w/ R leg to 6 o’clock & execute R low forearm guarding block w/ R back stance.

20.   Execute low L front kick and high jumping R front kick (kihap).  Land forward to R front stance and execute R out-to-in middle block.  Follow with L middle punch.

21.   Turn 270° L w/ L leg to 9 o’clock & execute L knifehand inside middle block w/ L back stance.

22.   Adjust to  L front stance and execute R elbow strike.  Follow with R backfist to the sternum area and L middle punch.

23.   Turn 180° R w/ R leg to 3 o’clock & execute R knifehand inside middle block w/ R back stance.

24.   Adjust to R front stance and execute L elbow strike.  Follow with L backfist to the sternum area and R middle punch (NO kihap).

Left leg moves back to Joon Bi.
