About the Club Team

For the elite competitor, the USC Tennis Club offers a highly competitive co-ed team that participates in USTA/NIRSA Campus on Tennis events. These events include local matches and tournaments against other Southern California universities culminating in the annual Southern California Sectional tournament and potentially the USTA/National Championships.

The Trojans have made the finals of Sectionals 3 out of the past 4 years, earning a birth into the USTA/NIRSA National Championships' field of 64 each year.
At the 2007 National Championships in Cary, NC, the team went undefeated in pool play and earned a spot in the main draw where they fell in a close match against the University of Colorado.
In 2008, the USC Club Team made its most impressive run ever at the National Championships in Cary, NC by going undefeated in its pool with victories over Oregon and Minnesota and following that with convincing wins over national powerhouses Penn State, Florida, and Georgia to ultimately finish as the 5th ranked team in the nation.
Most recently, in 2009, the Club Team beat UCLA in the finals to win the Southern California Sectional Championships for the first time in school history. At Nationals in Surprise, AZ, the team lost to eventual champions Duke but went on to get second place in the Silver Bracket.

Success on the court brought the team lots of attention off the court, as they were invited to Indian Wells during the Pacific Life Open to meet touring pros Laura Granville and James Blake.
