Spice Alert!

Saturday, 14 Oct 2006

Most Indonesian food contain spices, but nothing is as fiery as Padang food. As you can see from the picture above, their food has vibrant red color owing to the VERY liberal use of spices and chilli. "Sate Padang" is nothing like the Thai chicken satay you're probably more familiar with; our version is made with little chunks of grilled beef with thick, spicy gravy. Meanwhile, "Nasi Padang", which is equally mouth-watering, is simply rice served with a variety of other dishes, like spicy beef jerky, spicy vegetables, spicy egg curry, and spicy everything!

If you travel to Indonesia, do pop by to one of the many Padang restaurants; watching the waiters trying to carry as many plates stacked on both arms as possible is entertainment in its own!

Dare to try?
