Try It Riot - "Engineer It!" Application
Date: Saturday, February 27th, 2010 Want a chance to introduce Girl Scout Brownies (1st & 2nd graders!) to science and engineering? Want to bring your Girl Scouts to USC's campus for a fun-filled day of workshops with female engineers? SWE will be hosting our very own themed Try It Riot, called "Engineer It!", including workshops on Weird Glop, Static Electricity, Shapes and Tangrams, Exploring Colors and Patterns, Technology Scavenger Hunt, and more. As always Try it Riot, put on by USC's SWE, is free to all participants and includes lunch. This year we are teaming up the a charity called Project Books and Blankies which stresses the importance of snuggling under a blanket and learning to read and helps to bring books to underprivileged children. This organization was founded by a former SWE-USC member, Robyn Strumpf, and is a cause dear to SWE-USC's heart. In our effort to team up with this great charity we ask that each Brownie bring a new or gently used book with them to this years Try it Riot to donate to this cause. The founder of Project Books and Blankies will also be leading one of our workshops on colors, patterns and quilting. For more information about this organization please visit http://www.booksandblankies.com/. NOTE: As of now, confirmed and waitlist registration is now closed. We appreciate your interest in the event!
