Digital manufacturing will over the next fifty years or so, have a great impact on our role as consumers, change our economy and open many new possibilities. This impact, however, is nothing compared to the revolution digital nanofabrication can bring about. Digital nanofabrication will certainly improve many of our products, but its potential reaches much further. Imagine picking a single grain of sand from the nearest beach, which symbolizes what we are able to manufacture today, whereas the rest of the sand shows what can become possible with the use of digital nanofabrication. It has the potential to redefine how we look at life! Digital nanofabrication might not be (but could be!) the key to eternal life, but it can together with a better understanding of biology, eventually lead to building living tissue. Digital nanofabrication could become the new miracle of life! |
