Alex Sookhai is a Master of Science candidate in the GIST Program at the University of Southern California and is in her second term. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2010 with a B.S. in Environmental Science and a minor in Global Change. Alex is currently a Data Analyst for Cardno ENTRIX, an environmental consulting company, and she specializes in developing and managing relational databases for various projects within the company, as well as contributing to field sampling efforts. She was previous employed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory where she was an Aquatic Ecology Research Associate and where she conducted extensive aquatic invasive species research aboard the R/V Laurentian on Lake Michigan. She is interested in development of web-based GIS applications, as well as creative customization of maps for clients. During the Spring 2013 term, she conducted a food desert analysis in Detroit, MI, as a final project for SSCI 581.
