Alan Chung
SMPTE USC President
My name is Alan Chung and I am a third-year undergraduate majoring in Animation and Digital Arts at USC. I was born and raised in San Mateo, CA and have been in many leadership roles throughout high school and university. I am a student member of SMPTE and have been attending meetings with the San Francisco section since 2014. As the president of USC SMPTE Section, I hope to bring together artists and engineers not only to work together but also to form lasting friendships that may assist in the future. SMPTE is a community that will give students the opportunity to meet and speak with people from the film and television industry to learn about what it takes to become a part of that community.

Arnav is a grad student at EE department. Having worked for Defense and TV production and broadcasting houses and being a part of couple of Heavy Metal bands and playing underpaid gigs in New Delhi, he has settled to take his career further with a graduate degree in EE with specific focus on audio and visual multimedia.
Arnav is a fan of culinary arts (read: foodie) and is a great cook. He loves experimenting in kitchen if he is not coding and/or working on the usual long assignments. He has had a short stint as a poet when he wrote and recorded songs for his band but that didn't last because he sucked at it. Every once in a while he picks up a nice book to read but rarely gets to complete it and they mostly land up under his bed. He is also an avid traveler and aims to save enough to take an year off and travel the unexplored underbellies of the world. He has a peculiar taste in movies, but not so much for Marvel/DC/Superhero movies. He is a total old school guy who works on his assignments on a typewriter rather than printing and still sends postcards to his friends and family halfway across the world.
People, fascinate him. He likes to sit around at a crowded public place and observe people (not in a creepy way though). TL;DR: He's weird. But if you want to be weird together with him, hit him up. He loves replying to emails although you might not hear from him if you text/call him. X

Walter Iu
Walter is studying Electrical Engineering (Signal Processing) and also pursuing his minor in Business Administration. He is currently working for PWC and has a wide variety of professional interests in consulting, multimedia, electronic consumer products, and even finance. In addition to his involvement with SMPTE, he is the President for IEEE.

Alex Reinnoldt

Alex Reinnoldt is a graduate student in Electrical Engineering at USC. She received her B.S. in 2014 and is currently working on her M.S. with an emphasis in image and signal processing. Originally from Sacramento, CA, Alex enjoys being outdoors and walking with her dog, Charlie.
