College is a time for new faces, endeavors, and experiences.
Among this whirlwind of unfamiliarity, being in a sorority can help brighten
your path and put things into perspective. It provides a base for lasting
friendships and special memories. Sigma Phi Omega prides itself for its
diversity in membership as we embrace the unique qualities and gifts each person
brings.

What is rush?
Rush is a time where both fraternities and sororities host fun and informal
events around campus to introduce you to their organization and members.
When is rush?
For Sigma Phi Omega, three rush events are held during the first two weeks of
each Fall semester.
What is the cost of rush?
Free.
Do I have to attend every rush event?
No, but it is encouraged that you attend at least one event. If you cannot make
it to any of our events but are still interested in our sorority, please contact
any one of our rush chairs for more information.
Can I rush during the Spring semester?
Sigma Phi Omega does not conduct a Spring rush. By having only one pledge class
a year, we feel that this will allow the girls to form stronger bonds between
not only their pledge class, but also all sisters in the sorority. However, if
you miss rush, we encourage you to come back to our rush the following Fall
semester.
Why rush?
Attending the rushes give you a chance to meet the sisters of Sigma Phi Omega as
well as other USC students. Rushes provide opportunities to meet your future
friends and classmates in addition to a chance to mingle and eat some great free
food. Rides will also be provided to all those interested so there is no need to
worry about transportation.
Do I have to pledge if I rush?
There is no commitment to pledge if you rush.
What is pledging?
Pledging is a period of time where you learn about the history and traditions of
our organization. You will be able to form close bonds with pledge sisters and
other sisters in the sorority.
What is the time commitment?
It is up to you how much time you want to put into pledging. It is often said
that how much you get out of an experience is directly related to how much you
put into it. We understand that you are here at USC to learn and we will never
ask you to place the sorority above academics or anything else that is important
to you.
