Social Chair


Professional/Personal Attributes necessary for the position:

  • Organized, creative, patient, and determined

School/Work Schedule needed for the position:

  • Need to have time for each SGA’s monthly meeting and allow time for each event including advertising.

Responsible for 3 Events

  • Fall: the Dean's luncheon (work with the Dean’s support staff) and the Canned Food drive (work with LACRC)
  • Spring: the end of the year party or other social activities for students to enjoy
  • Attending ALL SGA monthly meetings and document events for the SGA Newsletter and Bulletin Board
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the SGA Bulletin Board

Assist in Multiple Events

  • As many SGA events as possible, but in the Fall you will help the President with the Memory Walk and in the Spring you will help the Co-Alumni Chairs with the Alumni Dinner

Position Description:

  • The Social chair creates and implements activities for gerontology students. Activities coordinated by the social chair in the fall are primarily community service. In the Spring, the social chair should make sure the programs are more social because the end of the year is approaching and we want to have some fun!
  • Ave # of hours spent per week: varies based on planned events
  • In the Fall: 2-5 hours (varies: based on activities)
    • In the fall a larger time commitment will be needed for the community service projects rather than the social activities planned in the spring semester.
  • In the Spring: 1 hour (varies: based on activities)

What other position(s) does the Social Chair work with the most, and why?

  • The social chair works most with the SGA secretary to keep them informed for upcoming meeting agendas. The social chair should always be available to assist any other SGA member, especially the Alumni chair because their job needs a lot of support spring semester.
