Wednesday April 4th SGA Meeting
Whitney
Fountas and Bernard Steinman are sponsoring a summer running club where members
of SGA can complete an exercise regiment equivalent to the 469 mile stretch
along PCH from USC to San Francisco. If enough people are involved this program
may also be carried over into the fall semester. Anyone can participate in this
SGA sponsored event: faculty, alumni, current students, administrators, etc.
When you log your running/biking, and swimming miles, email Whitney Fountas once
a week (fountas@usc.edu).
The
program, ÒPAWS/LA: Keeping People and Pets TogetherÓ was introduced by PhD
student Jessica Lendon. ÒPAWS/LAÓ provides services to assist low-income seniors
and people disabled by a life-threatening illness keep and care for their pets.
PAWS/LA was founded in 1989 in response to the companion animal-related crises
faced by residents of Los Angeles County who were financially and physically
debilitated by HIV/AIDS. Since that time, the agency has expanded its scope to
assist low-income seniors and any low-income individual living with a chronic
or life-threatening illness. PAWS/LA currently serves more than 1,700
disenfranchised animal guardians and their 2,000+ companion animals.
Contact
Jessica Lendon or visit the ÒPAWS/LAÓ website to find out more information
concerning volunteering opportunities. The main office is located on Hope and
12th in Downtown LA.
