We are the University of Southern California chapter of Formula SAE (FSAE). We are an entirely student-run organization that designs, constructs, tests, & races high performance autocross racecars.
When studying vehicle mechanics and automotive racing, it is surprising to find that applications within racing apply to many different fields. Racers who are also engineering students may notice that shaft encoders are mounted to a motor shaft with a rotor wheel that rotates around the shaft. This is similar to the internal combustion engine that drives a race car.
