Photo Initiative will enable students to Experience L.A.

  USC launches new arts initiative

The university will formally launch its new arts and humanities initiative, Visions and Voices, with an “inaugural” event next month. But weeks before the official kickoff, there are already signs that the new program is already catching on. The new initiative aims to engage students with events featuring some of the biggest names across multiple disciplines and have students reflect on what they are experiencing.

USC Provost C. L. Max Nikias is clearly the ‘voice’ of the program as the initiative was his brainchild. It is likely his greatest contribution to the university since taking his new position in 2005. Previously, he was the dean of the Viterbi School of Engineering.

Visions and Voices will be a permanent fixture at USC. But it will be hard to follow the impressive events calendar offered this year. The initiative's organizers do not seem worried as they plan on looking to the USC community to keep the program strong.
