Welcome to the Freight Movement Survey!

This survey is a part of the ongoing research project Institutional Considerations in Freight Movement conducted by Dr. Niraj Verma and Swati Chaudhuri at the University of Southern California. The study, supported by METRANS aims to identify the institutional barriers affecting freight movement related to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

We especially seek participation by the following groups in this survey:

  • Academics specializing in transportation planning, logistics and port development
  • Experts on freight movement, logistics and port operations
  • Executive employees and decision-makers among shippers, ocean carriers, terminal operators, trucking companies, consolidators and freight forwarders and warehousing companies Public officials involved in decision-making regarding the ports and local and regional freight movement
  • Environmental advocacy groups

Survey Guidelines

This is a confidential survey, and does not require respondents to be identified by name. However, we would appreciate if you could indicate the industry, organization, or type of public agency that you are associated with. If you wish to be identified, you are welcome to record your name and organization on the first page. This is strictly optional and you may answer the survey in complete anonymity. This is a simple, self-administered survey divided into 4 sections. You may choose to answer as many questions as you desire, and omit answering any questions. You may also choose to answer any section first, in the order that you wish to follow. At the end of the survey you would be directed to the website of the School of Policy, Planning and Development, University of Southern California.
