PGA West - Nicklaus Tournament

Course Designer: Jack Nicklaus

The Nicklaus Tournament Course is truly one of Nicklaus' best. This course is a remarkable test of golf where accuracy is rewarded and errant shots are severely penalized. Visible plateau landing areas, firm elevated greens and jagged bunkers will leave a lasting impression on golfers of every level. The PGA WEST® Jack Nicklaus Tournament course is ranked among Golf Magazine's "Top 100 Courses You Can Play" in the United States.

PGA West - Greg Norman Course

Course Designer: Greg Norman

"With its outstanding new Greg Norman course, La Quinta Resort & Club solidifies its spot among the world's finest golf resorts." - LINKS Magazine

Golf courses are made in the image of their creators, and Norman, a.k.a. "the Shark," is known for an aggressive style of play. On a Norman design, the risk-reward ratio is highly correlated, and those who spend strokes on safe shots may wind up feeling like shark chum. Yet, Norman insists the measure of great course is playability for a variety of levels.

The new course at PGA WEST® is in a plain - a seabed 40-feet below sea level - that's surrounded by an immense crescent of terra-cotta mountains. The course teems with purple, white and yellow wildflowers. The mix of tall and short native grasses produce different shades of green running almost to silver, and the trees - mesquite, paloverde and acacia - are native to the low desert and visually arresting.

Optional Courses

La Quinta - Mountain Course

The Mountain Course is famous for its unique design and visually stunning setting. This golfer's paradise is literally carved into the Santa Rosa Mountains, demanding accurate, strategic play while providing the ultimate in breathtaking views. Pete Dye's skillful design is ranked among Golf Magazine's "Top 100 Courses You Can Play" in the United States.

PGA West Stadium

Rated as on of the "Top 100 Courses in the World" by GOLF MAGAZINE and 4th toughest course in America in Golf Digest's "Top 50 Toughest Courses in America (2007)," there may be no greater challenge or excitement in the game of golf than the Stadium at PGA WEST!  The world famous Stadium is one of Pete Dye's finest course creations, delivering multiple adrenaline rushes throughout the round.  A "must play" for all golfers, but no the faint of heart.  Host to PGA TOUR "Q-School" Finals every other year, PGA TOUR hopefuls must steady their nerves to navigate the island green of hole #17, known as Alcatraz.  Imagine yourself as one of them, needing to make par on the menacing water-lined 18th hole to earn the coveted PGA TOUR card!

Named "Stadium" due to Dye's successful efforts of sculpting spectator seating into the natural terrain along fairways and surrounding the greens, many great moments in golf history have occurred here, including Lee Trevino's unforgettable hole-in-one on Alcatraz.  This aced him the win of a huge carry-over Skin worth $175,000 in the 1987 made-for-TV "Skin's Game" hosted by PGA WEST from 1986 through 1991.  With five sets of tees, the Stadium lures all skill levels and final scores should be measured by laughs and awe-inspiring moments, not by numbers on a scorecard!

Spots are still available but not for long, this is a popular weekend so sign up now- Rate good 3 days before and 3 days after for people wanting to extend trip with holiday weekend -  Please email munson@usc.edu if you would like additional nights.  All courses open.  Stadium has $50 surcharge and is 11 days after punching greens
