PGA West - Greg Norman Course
Course Designer: Greg Norman
"With its outstanding new Greg Norman course, La Quinta Resort & Club solidifies its spot among the world's finest golf resorts." - LINKS Magazine
Golf courses are made in the image of their creators, and Norman, a.k.a. "the Shark," is known for an aggressive style of play. On a Norman design, the risk-reward ratio is highly correlated, and those who spend strokes on safe shots may wind up feeling like shark chum. Yet, Norman insists the measure of great course is playability for a variety of levels.
The new course at PGA WEST® is in a plain - a seabed 40-feet below sea level - that's surrounded by an immense crescent of terra-cotta mountains. The course teems with purple, white and yellow wildflowers. The mix of tall and short native grasses produce different shades of green running almost to silver, and the trees - mesquite, paloverde and acacia - are native to the low desert and visually arresting.
