Past News Long Beach Dragon Boat Race May 14, 2006
We celebrated Mother's Day at Mother's Beach for this collegiate race. Congratulations to UCSD and UCLA for their wins! For pictures, click here; for full race results in PDF form, click here. SCDB Banquet April 30, 2006 A delicious dinner was served at C&O Cucina
after we stuffed ourselves silly with the killer garlic rolls. It was
here that we welcomed our new officers: Brian Nguyen, to take over Chloe
Nguyen's position as Co-Captain; Wai Lam Yu, to take over Dorothy Kwok's
position as Treasurer; and Yohan Chang, to take over Sherene Chou's position
as Social Chair. Other notable changes include Katherine Sevilla moving
from being the Historian to being the Fundraising Chair, and Sherene is
now the RCC Chair. We said a tearful goodbye to our awesome Coach Sebastian
and cheerily welcomed our Assistant Coaches Kevin and Cris as they prepare
to teach the team on their own. End-of-the-year awards were also given
out based on popular vote (with the exception of the Fastest Times Award)!
Here's the breakdown of who won what: Magazine Drive Spring Semester, 2006
The USC Dragon Boat Team was successful in earning $1500 through a magazine fundraiser. Thank you everyone who participated and/or bought magazines! The top two sellers were Trinity Lee and Chloe Nguyen. The group that sold the most magazines was Team Awesomeness: Brian Nguyen, Scott Arnold, Ray Jone, and Adam Liang led by Chloe Nguyen. Prizes were awarded to the winners. Congratulations, team! And keep up the good work! Festive-All April 28, 2006 Mos Def was the main headliner in this spring concert that displayed several other musical acts. USCDB was out there tabling and recruiting new paddlers for next year! Dinner was served in the form of free food (the best kind of dinner!), and a good time was had by all. Arizona Dragon Boat Race March 18-19
Our first race ever! 20 of our paddlers went to Tempe, Arizona to represent USC as one of the only two college teams at the tournament (the other was ASU). We came into this tournament high on adrenaline and ready to burn some water. We did well, finishing first in one of our heats and second in a couple other races. We were full of spirit, cheering for all the other teams during this two-day race. This weekend marks the weekend where we came up with our USC Dragon Boat Cheer, the cheer that we will chant for races to come. All of our efforts (and laryngitis) were paid off when we won the Best Cheer Award! View the full results of the race here. |
