News and Updates Congratulations this past weekend to the Gold Boat for pulling a second place in the B Division! All paddlers have made significant progress over the course of the semester. Great job on all the hard work! We will be having our last practice of the semester on Sunday, November 22. We will meet at 9:00AM at Trojan Grounds as usual. |
A message from the captain... "The USC Dragon Boat team is a competitive yet fun organization that truly has a “family” feeling to it. We hold practices at Mother’s Beach in Long Beach, CA most weekends and typically have land workouts at the USC main campus twice a week during the academic year. We also traditionally participate in 3 major Dragon Boat festivals every academic year: one in Southern California, one in Northern California, and one in Arizona; see races for more information. However, even though dragon boating is a very team-oriented sport to begin with, USC Dragon Boat also holds numerous social and philanthropy events throughout the year to promote team bonding and just to have some fun together. As a relatively young club sport team, we continuously push ourselves to improve and be the best both on and off the water. In just the past two years, we have gone from finishing in Division B to Division A in our races. This year, our goal is to be in the Division A finals – the last race of the day. This feat will show that we are in the top 6 out of 20-60 teams (depending on the race). We will achieve this by having stronger, more dedicated water and land practices, as well as having more social events that promote team bonding. If you are looking for a group which shares a love for Dragon Boat, intensity and teamwork, but still knows how to kick back and have some fun together every so often, shoot us an email at usc.dragonboat@gmail.com. Hope to see you out on the water!" --Alric Van, Team Captain |
