Biographical Sketch:
Sandip specializes in transportation planning and policy studies. Sandip’s research interests include urban transportation planning & policy, smart growth & transit oriented development, planning for public transit facilities and planning for parking. Sandip has received the VN Prasad Best Thesis Award (Gold Medal) 2008 (awarded by the Institute of Town Planners India-ITPI), SN Halder Best Thesis Award (Gold Medal) 2008 (awarded by ITPI-West Bengal Regional Chapter), and the Mott MacDonald Professional Excellence (Best Paper) Award 2009. His research has been published in refereed Indian and international planning journals. Sandip has also worked as a professional consultant to Reliance Industries, Mott MacDonald and Jurong International, and earlier served a graduate research associate at the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Cell of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Currently, Sandip is involved in funded research on Integrated Corridor Management and Intelligent Transportation Systems at the METRANS Transportation Research Center at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. For his doctoral research, Sandip is focusing on relationships between land use (or the built environment) and transportation (specifically travel behavior), planning for public transportation systems, planning for parking (demand assessments, pricing, park-and-ride facilities), and mode-choice studies.
