Jeanie Paik, Director of Volunteer Events

“Hi guys! My name is Jeanie Paik, and I'm a junior double majoring in biology and international relations.  I'm interested in going to medical school and eventually working in international health policy.  I am the Director of Events this year, which means I will be coordinating our community service and volunteer opportunities.  We will be heading out to Skid Row to volunteer in soup kitchens and serve the homeless community.  We are also looking to become involved with local high schools and present what we learned in our Red Cross training.  We are also looking into working with LA's local community of refugees. I am definitely open to hear what you want to do, and I'm always looking for new ideas.  So send me an email if you have any suggestions!”

Jennifer Smith,
Co-Director of Education-CPR

"I'm currently a senior majoring in neuroscience. I joined the USC Red Cross in Fall 2005 because I was interested in improving the health of the surrounding community. I enjoy the Red Cross as it allows me to receive trainings, teach, and volunteer in areas where I would not be able to normally. As the Director of Education and CPR coordinator for this school year, I look forward to the numerous volunteer opportunities which will help raise awareness of USC Red Cross on campus and in the surrounding areas."

Matias Sueldo,
Co-Director of Education-Disaster Services

“I am a Junior majoring in International Relations and Public Policy, Management, and Planning. Born and raised in Fresno, California, I lived in Argentina for approximately five years. There I experienced profound poverty and acted in my community to ameliorate it. I joined the Club because of my desire to improve the lives of others and make a real, tangible difference in my community. I have been with the USC Red Cross Club for two years now, first as a volunteer, then as Disaster Services Coordinator, and now as Director of Education. We have a revamped organizational structured, a new website on display, and tons of exciting volunteer opportunities. I am excited for the new year!”

Kealoha Ramirez,
Co-Director of Communication

"My name is Kealoha Ramirez.  I’m a junior, pre med, and majoring in neuroscience.  I became a member of the USC Red Cross in my sophomore year, Fall 2005.  I became a member of the organization because it provides great opportunities for training and volunteer services in the surrounding community of Los Angeles.  As a Co-Director of Communication, I’ll be keeping you updated on meetings and announcing upcoming events."

I am a senior majoring in International Relations.  I first joined the Red Cross Club as a means of putting my interest of community service to practice. The Club has been a means for having a meaningful and direct impact on the lives of so many individuals.  My work with the Red Cross has taken me as far as South Africa. As an international volunteer with the South African Red Cross Society, I contributed to several programs aimed at alleviating suffering, assisting HIV/AIDS patients, and providing sustenance to the extremely poor. I encourage you to take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that the Red Cross has to offer, as it is a great way to get involved in an array of service efforts on campus and throughout Los Angeles. The Club is a great way to develop your leadership skills, and meet amazing individuals that share your humanitarian interests.”
