FlySpy

I've worked on the FlySpy project which I joined in the last semester of my Masters. We aim to track the position and behavior of fruit flies ( Drosophila Melanogaster ) using computer vision techniques.

Collaborative Filtering

I researched recommender systems for research papers. The citation web around a research paper is a directed graph in which prominent papers are well connected to the rest of the graph. I explored ways in which this citation web can be exploited for recommending papers.

Recommending Research Papers in a Peer-to-Peer System: Abstract

A peer-to-peer architecture for freely publishing research papers would have many advantages over more traditional publication mechanisms. However to be of practical use, it must employ a recommendation system for the papers it hosts. Such a system must also be resistant to attacks to fraudulently change recommendations of papers and reputations of authors. The issues in the implementation of such a system are assessed and a design suggested.

Parallel Programming / Distributed Computing

Widespread adoption of parallel processing is a definite necessity. I am interested in finding ways to automatically distribute computations that were usually done in a serial manner. Newer programming paradigms and philosophies should make this task simpler.

Computer Vision

This is a field that truly fascinates me. I believe within my lifetime, we will see the world totally revolutionalized by this research.
