Here's some informal stuff about me.

My name is Ravi Prakash. I was born and brought up in New Delhi, India.

I completed my schooling from the Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj. It brings back fond memories, and undoubtedly, some of my happiest moments were in school. The friends that I cherish most are also from my school time. I wish we could have always stayed in it. :)

In any case, the here and now is what we are concerned with. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering from the Amity School Of Engineering and Technology (ASET). I also graduated with a Master of Science in Computer Science program from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Totally awesome experience. I am now working in the Tavare Research Lab in the Department of Computational and Molecular Biology.

I just love to code. I have done some web development, what is a person really, who doesn't have a homepage.;) Isn't it? In my first year, I started making a site for my college, http://cc.domaindlx.com/aset but lost enthusiasm in between and handed it over to some friends. Just allowed me to wet my hands with ASP, and Javascript and ofcourse HTML (as if that needed mentioning :P). In my second year, I was part of a team developing a prototype web application for IBM, India using their database software IBM DB2. We used JSP, and it was my first introduction to something big and teamwork. As the 2nd year In-House Training project, I made a solid modeling, object rendition software using JAVA. It basically implemented spatial occupancy enumeration, alongwith some enhancements I thought of. Used ray tracing for visible surface detection. Was quite cool in my opinion and I had a lot of fun making it. Still remains very buggy though. Do plan to polish it up. Just dont know when.

Besides all the academic stuff. I have many hobbies. However, above and beyond everything is soccer. Its a passion, I've had for a very long time. And I believe I'm pretty good at it. Was in the school team. Was in the college team. Fully agree with Bill Shankly who'd said 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.

I'm basically a sports addict, sports include squash, badminton, cricket. Besides, I love music (Dave Mathews Band, Smashing Pumpkins, Howie Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana). Love biking. That's motorbiking. And the rest's usual, chilling out with friends, catching up on movies (strictly action movies, favourites include Rocky, Terminator, Chinese stuff with all the Kung Fu etc.), reading novels (whenevery I can lay my hands on a good one i.e.)
