Executive Board Positions:
The new 2004-2005 executive board has the power to change the responsibilities of any of the positions and to structure PRSSA however they see fit. The following descriptions represent a guideline to the responsibilities of each position:
President:
The president is in charge of leading the executive board in all tasks. One of the primary responsibilities of the president is overseeing the planning and execution of PRSSA events and speaker panels. The president delegates tasks to other board members and oversees the year-long planning process. In addition, the president is responsible for communicating with the PRSSA faculty advisor, Annenberg staff, and the university on behalf of PRSSA. The president should be someone who is excited about PRSSA and can motivate the executive board and PRSSA members. They should be detail-oriented and possess good communication skills.
Vice President:
The vice president works with the president to oversee the planning of events and meetings. The vice president is responsible for presidential duties if the president is unable to fulfill them. In addition, the vice president has the responsibility of coordinating food at the events. The vice president should also be someone who is excited about PRSSA and is willing to fill in wherever he/she is needed.
Treasurer:
The treasurer is responsible for all financial transactions of PRSSA. Each semester, the treasurer must collect and organize member applications and create a roster for national PRSSA as well as the USC chapter. The treasurer oversees any fundraising activities. In addition, the treasurer is responsible for balancing the checkbook and budgeting events. The treasurer should be someone who is organized and can keep detailed records of account transactions and balances.
Secretary:
The secretary keeps detailed minutes at all the executive board meetings. In addition, the secretary takes notes at speaker events to post on the member website. The secretary often helps out in coordinating different details of the events such as preparing gifts and creating name tags for guest speakers. The secretary should be an individual who is organized and reliable.
Member Relations Director:
The member relations director is responsible for communicating with members. The member relations director keeps a member roster with contact information and encourages members to attend meetings. In addition, the member relations director recruits potential members of PRSSA and answers interested members questions about the organization. The member relations director should be an enthusiastic individual who likes to promote the benefits PRSSA.
Public Relations Director:
The public relations director is responsible for all the publicity of PRSSA. The PR director creates brochures, welcome packets and flyers about the organization. Before events, the PR director is also responsible for helping organize a publicity campaign through flyers and signs around campus, etc. The PR director should be someone who is creative and comfortable with computer design.
Webmaster:
The webmaster is responsible for updating the USC PRSSA website and maintaining the web page. The webmaster posts upcoming events and announcements and also sets up the online application process. They also update the photo and executive board pages. The webmaster should be someone who is creative and has some web design experience.
