At the age of five, I entered a “Little Miss” pageant.  The question and answer portion included the question, “When you grow up, what do you want to be?”  My answer was “I want to be a teacher because I want to teach kids how to read, write, learn and be smart just like me.”  I have since modified my teaching goals and philosophy.

Teaching should be fun and engaging.  Students should look forward to attending class and teachers should motivate their students to try their best.  As a teacher, I hope to engage students by making subject material relevant to everyday life.  I plan to stimulate them through fun and innovative lessons.  I want to inspire them through my own enthusiasm to set high standards and goals for themselves.

Most importantly, teaching should be about more than just facts and figures.  Students should be encouraged to excel in all areas of interest whether it is science, sports, music or art.  Teaching should be about shaping young people to be productive and responsible members of society.
