Officers' Roles and Responsibilities

President

The President's role is to coordinate and facilitate all meetings and activities of the General Assembly and the Executive Board. The President also has the power to rule over all transactions and negotiations of the association that are not voted upon by the Executive Board or the General Assembly.

The President is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Planning and writing up the Agenda for the upcoming meeting
* Facilitating all Board and General meetings
* Applying for renewal of organization recognition
* Meeting with the Organization Advisor and other important persons
* Updating the Nikkei Officer's Guide
* Generating and distributing the semester calendar

External Vice President

The External Vice President's role is to help the President and Internal Vice President oversee and facilitate all meetings and activities of the General Assembly. The External Vice President also acts as the liaison between the Intercollegiate Nikkei Council (INC) and USC Nikkei by attending all INC meetings.

The External Vice President is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Attending all INC meetings and events
* Reporting INC information to the Board and General Assembly
* Making the necessary reservations for off-campus events

Internal Vice President

The Internal Vice President's role is to assume the duties of the President in the event that the President is unable to attend a meeting. The Internal Vice President also acts as the liaison between the Asian Pacific American Student Assembly (APASA) and USC Nikkei by attending all APASA meetings.

The Internal Vice President is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Attending all APASA meetings and events
* Making reservations for the Yearbook Picture
* Making the necessary reservations for on-campus events

Secretary

The Secretary's roles are to take the Minutes of Board and General meetings and to produce all official correspondence for the organization.

The Secretary is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Taking Minutes for all Board and General meetings
* Distributing Minutes to all Board members
* Sending emails and reminders to Board members about upcoming Board meetings
* Sending emails and reminders to General members about upcoming meetings and events
* Responding to questions and concerns of the General members
* Sending all correspondence between USC Nikkei and outside people and organizations
* Generating Sign-In sheets for each meeting

Treasurer

The Treasurer's roles are to handle all financial negotiations and transactions of the organization, to maintain records of the organization's finances, and to report the finances of the organization at every Board meeting.

The Treasurer is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Transferring the Nikkei USC Credit Union account to the incoming Treasurer
* Collecting Dues
* Depositing all monies collected by Nikkei
* Maintaining a record of all financial transactions, including copies of receipts, and balancing the organization checkbook
* Applying for and obtaining funding
* Organizing and executing Nikkei fundraisers
* Checking the Nikkei mailbox at Student Union 410

Historian / Webmaster

The Historian / Webmaster's roles are to take pictures at all meetings, events, and activities and to maintain the organization's website.

The Historian / Webmaster is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Transferring the Nikkei email and website account to the incoming Webmaster / Historian
* Making sure the Secretary has all information regarding the Nikkei email account once the account has been transferred
* Updating the website on a weekly basis
* Taking pictures at all meetings, events, and activities
* Generating scrapbooks, slideshows, videos, etc. for the year (if desired by the organization)
* Making sure the incoming Historian / Webmaster knows how to maintain and update the website

Publicity Chair

The Publicity Chair's roles are to generate all forms of association publications, including flyers, postcards, advertisements, and pamphlets, and to coordinate and execute the distribution of all advertisements and publications.

The Publicity Chair is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Generating all forms of media that are to be distributed to the general public (USC and the surrounding community)
* Contacting advertisement agencies (e.g. newspapers, other INC organizations) to distribute organization advertisements
* Contacting Topping Student Center to enter Day of Remembrance and Culture Night into the University Events Calendar
* Collecting designs for the Nikkei T-shirt for the upcoming year
* Placing orders for the Nikkei T-shirts

Day of Remembrance Chair

The Day of Remembrance Chair's roles are to plan and organize all events associated with Day of Remembrance, and to assist the Culture Night Chair in his or her duties.

The Day of Remembrance Chair is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Planning all Day of Remembrance events
* Contacting the necessary people and organizations to schedule Day of Remembrance events
* Working with the Treasurer to raise the funds for Day of Remembrance
* Shopping for supplies required for Day of Remembrance
* Organizing shifts and crews to help with set-up and break-down and execution of each event
* Working with the Publicity Chair to publicize Day of Remembrance

Culture Night Chair

The Culture Night Chair's roles are to plan and organize Culture Night and to select and organize the necessary committees.

The Culture Night Chair is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Planning and facilitating Culture Night
* Organizing the necessary committees to execute Culture Night
* Contacting the necessary people and organizations to schedule and book Culture Night
* Working with the Treasurer to raise the funds for Culture Night
* Shopping for supplies required for Day of Remembrance
* Organizing shifts and crews to help with set-up and break-down and execution of each event
* Organizing all rehearsals
* Working with the Publicity Chair to publicize Culture Night

USC Kazan Taiko Representative

The USC Kazan Taiko Representative's role is to act as liaison between the organization and the USC Kazan Taiko team.

The USC Kazan Taiko Representative is responsible for completing the following tasks:

* Attending all Kazan Taiko rehearsals
* Reporting all Kazan Taiko events at Board Meetings
