Constitution | Officers' Roles and Responsibilities | FAQ Nikkei Meetings Every other Tuesday at 7:30PM in VKC 258 History The USC Nikkei Association was founded in 1995 by Kori Hojo, Marc Sakaguchi, Stacy Watanabe, Stephanie Wong, and Bryan Yamami. The founders of SCNA wished to bring together a community of students enthusiastic about exploring the rich Japanese-American heritage that began to flourish during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. USC Nikkei was established with these goals: 1. To explore and promote cultural awareness and a sense of identity in the Japanese-American population of the University of Southern California. Though Nikkei consists primarily of students of Japanese descent, we welcome and embrace those who are not Japanese American to join and explore the culture. Mission Statement Founded in 1995, USC Nikkei aims to provide a place for both Japanese American Trojans and those interested in Japanese American culture. Through activities both on campus and in the rich Nikkei community of Los Angeles, we aim to promote the teaching and sharing of Japanese American culture by exploring our roots while finding family in students from all walks of life.
