Wendy Knowlton
Lab: David Mckemy
Interests: I am interested in figuring out how the somatosensory system is wired into the central nervous system, specifically how TRPM8-expressing cold-sensing neurons connect to spinal cord neurons. I'm looking at whether there are multiple cold circuits and, if so, how neurons identify their proper synaptic partners. I would also like to know if these connections change during pathologic states.

Arvin (Cyrus) Arman

Interests: I am interested in how the nervous system gives rise to the visual experience. My previous work focused on understanding how the human visual cortex is organized and how attention can alter the neurological response to stimuli using a combination of functional magnetic resonance imaging and visual psychophysics. I currently study the mammalian retina using both anatomical and physiological methods to determine the functional organization of the pathways in the retina which are responsible for relaying signals under extremely dim lighting conditions.
