Because I said so.

Actually, this page is for those of us who are not responsible for my GPA.

So, my REAL name is Minime, not to be confused with that nickname my parents and the government calls me. I am a sophomore horn player in the USC Trojan Marching Band. I don't think I would have been happy in any other section. The horns really are the best section in band. The traditional horn call run is the trademark of our section; we get to run up in front of the entire band and blow balls to the USC crowd as they sing along. I will never forget the two most legendary horn call run's, at least in my opinion:

Last year at the rose bowl, we had a combined rehearsal with michigan. We decided to leave after practicing with John Williams (and after totally blowing that other band away). Meanwhile, michigan continued to rehearse their... pathetic... show. The old man, in his typical manner, decided to play "Conquest" while still in the stadium, which of course totally disrupted michigan's rehearsal. The horns ran up on the top row of the bleachers and blasted triumphant horn calls while michigan could only look on. We met up with the michigan band again at the end of the Rose Bowl parade, and again, the old man called out "Conquest". This time Gidget led us right up in front of michigan, blowing right in there face. The adrenaline rush was unreal. (Gidget, you are awesome.)

What a great story.

Thanks.

Your welcome.

I wish I had had this site last year while I was a freshmen because it would have been full of hate and distain, but this year has actually been a lot of fun. There are new freshmen now, or as I like to refer to them: minions.

Being in band is like the other half of my life. When I'm not doing homework, or laying on the couch like a sack, I'm on either Dedoux or the intramural field listening to the old man shouting obscenities. And by obscenities I mean compliments.

The best part about band is getting to do fun trips and gigs. My favorite full band gig is going to the Arcadia cavalcade and showing off in front of hundreds of screaming high school band members. And of course you can't forget about free admission to football games, even away games. Every year the band has a weekender trip (well, except last year... that never happened).

I highly recommend joining the TMB to anyone who is spirited about athletics and the university, and is willing to try hard and to put in a lot of time and effort. >>Please note these prerequisites.<<

Trust me, I'm trying not to make this sound like a flyer.
