Difficulty MUST READ
For those in great condition. Should be exercising regularly.
You must have hiked with me before - you then know the difficulty that I'm describing. If you haven't, you'd better read this and message me.
Hike Description
This hike takes us to the northern part of the San Gabriels. This region is less visited than others, but offers some nice hikes overlooking the mountains, desert, and odd rock formations (Devil's Punchbowl).
We'll start at either Buckhorn or Islip Saddle and do a loop hike. The loop will consist of hiking part of the Pacific Crest Trail, Burkhardt Trail, and the Pleasantview Ridge. We'll traverse this ridge hitting all 3 peaks mentioned.
This hike will be tough but not ridiculous (from what I am estimating). It should be comparable to hiking to Baden-Powell from Islip Saddle. There will be some steeper portions but it will certainly not all be steep.
The pace will be good, not terribly fast, but if there is demand maybe we can have a few units going.
Also, afterwards, it would be nice to stop at the Newcombe Ranch Restaurant, located on the 2, for some food.
