Professor Rudy Acuņa gave an inspiring keynote address to kick off the event.
Our Third Annual Graduate Studies Forum held March 12, 2008
was a great success. Multidisciplinary panelists Terrion Williamson (American Studies and Ethnicity),
Orlando Serrano (American Studies and Ethnicity),
Laura Harjo (Geography) and Jocely Mercado (Sociology) all gave informative testimonials about
personal experiences as gruadate students of color at USC.
Over 150 undergraduates from Cal State University Northridge attended the forum.
Many were inspired to consider graduate school as a viable option
for their futures. Next year, we plan to continue the event at Cal
State University Fullerton.
Thank you to all our volunteers and strong support from professors
and students alike at CSUN for making the Third Annual Graduate Studies
Forum a wonderful event.
Thank you especially to the Chican@ Studies and Sociology Departments
at CSUN, Graduate Programs at USC
and, of course, GPSS for your generous support!
