The MEChA Raza High School Conference spans a history of well over a decade and has hosted over 10,000 students in the Los Angeles area. MEChistAs work rigorously to coordinate and organize all HS Conferences striving to offer an enlightning and motivational experience to all students. It is the intent of all MEChistAs to provide participants with a better understanding of the importance of achieving higher education. The conference is comprised of a variety of cultural and academic workshops. Past workshops have dealt with topics such as Chicano/a Poetry, Chicana Empowerment, Sweatshop Labor, and Identity and Labels just to mention a few. Current USC students and alumni also participate to offer information about their own major, field of study and/or careers. The Conference has also been a host to a number of guest speakers, such as Dolores Huerta, and local musical guests such as Slowrider and Burning Star. During the conference MEChistAs take advantage of the opportunity to open the university to you, the students, so that one day you will open it for someone else.
