MEChA'S General Body Meetings are held every THURSDAY at 5 PM at EL CENTRO CHICANO, located on the third floor of the University Church.

Check back with us next semesters for committee meeting times.

COMMUNITY and LABOR RELATIONS Responsible for networking and developing relationships with grass root organizations, community, and business groups that will be beneficial to MEChA-USC and the Chicana y Chicano Movement. Establishes and maintains MEChA chapters in local schools.

CARRIBEAN, CENTRAL, and SOUTH AMERICAN

Serves as a liasion with committee-orientated organizations that will be beneficial to MEChA-USC and the community in building awareness and educating RAZA about the history/social issues and roles CCASA communities have played in the movement and in society.

EDUCATION and RETENTION

Implements and develops strategies that promote, encourage and give information on higher education to MEChistAs and Raza students. Projects include but are not limited to: developing study halls, Raza Orientation, Raza Transfer Day, and Annual Raza High School conference.

GAY, LESBIAN, BISEXUAL, TRANSGENDER Will serve as liason with GLBT organizations on campus and organize to end homophobia in all sectors of the campus and community by sponsoring events and facilitating discussion on GLBT issues.
POLITICAL ISSUES Is responsible to be aware and share knowledge about political issues that affect the Chicano student community as well as the community at large. Develops and organizes programs that publicize political issues and allows for educated and thoughtful deliberation of political issues.
INTERNAL Fullfills objectives at the campus level. Serves as an active advocate of the positive goals and objectives of MEChA. Works with and represents MEChA-USC to other student groups, faculty and staff groups, Student Senate, Latino Student Assembly, and any other groups at USC. Advises all committees.
EXTERNAL Is responsible for fulfilling objectives beyond the campus level. Serves as liason with other Raza organizations at the local, state, and national level. Represents M.E.Ch.A.-USC at Los Angeles County Central and Alta Califas Sur Regional.

SECRETARY

 

Takes/maintains minutes of General Body, Mesa Directiva, and any official MEChA-USC meeting. Keeps/maintains hard copy documentation of minutes. Holds and provides all necessary personal/contact information of each USC MEChistA.

TREASURER

Is responsible for all financial transactions, including but not limited to depositing funds and preparing financial paperwork. Delivers weekly reports to MESA Directiva on financial transactions. Delivers a projected financial budget for Latino Student Assembly.
RECRUITMENT Is responsible for actively recruiting members to MEChA, advertising events, programs and meetings. Will develop comprehensive pamphlets, flyers, and other recruitment materials. Will serve as a liason with the residents of USC Latino Floor(s) and El Centro Chicano.
MESA DIRECTIVA Consists of MEChA-USC coordinators and members. Serves as the coordinating committee that organizes MEChA de USC activities and events. Establishes agenda for General Body.
MUJERES de MALINTZIN Organizes and fights to end sexism in all sectors of the campus and community through sponsoring events, discussion, and volunteer work. Serves as liason with other mujer and gender orientated organizations.
