Welcome to the Multicultural Greek Council
The students of the University of Southern California encompass a wide variety of races, ethnicities, and cultures; and with this come the unique exposure to the sharing of an amalgamation of various backgrounds hardly found in any other university. But for many years there was no one particular Greek council that addressed the diversity of the student body within Greek organizations. The Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) has since filled in that void by encompassing a variety of organizations which enhance the Greek experience for those seeking an alternative to the traditional Greek system.

With intentions to expedite the scholastic, social, and professional endeavors of its members the founders of MGC, then known as the Independent Greek Council, further realized a need for an assembly of Greek organizations that would represent the unique diversity that USC has to offer and promote multiculturalism among students representing a vast variety of experiences. MGC stands apart from all the other councils at USC through the diversity of its members not only in race and ethnicity, but in the unique personality of each individual chapter emphasizing different goals and objectives for its members.

Founded autumn of 1996, the Multicultural Greek Council originally comprised of 4 diverse organizations including Zeta Phi Rho Fraternity Inc., Zeta Sigma Phi Sorority, Sigma Delta Alpha Fraternity Inc. and Sigma Theta Psi Sorority Inc. The council has come a long way since then and is now comprised of a total of 12 unique organizations dedicated to enhancing the Greek collegiate experience through philanthropic activities, cultural events, and social exchanges. These additional organizations include Alpha Epsilon Omega Fraternity, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc., Lambda Theta Phi Fraternity Inc., Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Sigma Lambda Gamma Sorority Inc, Tau Theta Pi Sorority, Omega Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and the Armenian Interest Sorority. MGC serves as a focal point for bringing together an array of talents and strengths from within our membership—whether it be social, academic, or athletic ability—and utilize them not just for creating new leaders, but more importantly for our larger endeavors for the community. Projects that the council has set forth recently include a Philanthropy benefiting children at Weeme’s Elementary School across the street from USC, a council sponsored Homecoming BBQ, leadership retreats to develop our council’s leaders as well as banquets to recognize the outstanding achievements of its members throughout the academic year.

We sincerely hope you express any interest in becoming part of this tight nit community. If you feel you have something to offer this organization or are simply curious about learning more about us then please complete and submit the form to the left. Upon submission you will be contacted within a couple of days by our recruitment chair who will guide and advise you in making the choice to go Greek. For more information about our council feel free to peruse our website.
