USC Marathon Team
I came to my limit,
I ran past it,
and then I walked a little.
And then I ran some more.
4:07. Not where we were expecting to be, but it was hot. There is little question that I gave everything I had. I think the people that were more chill about their times had more fun. It was really hot. I pretty much stopped having fun at about mile 13, and we have had great runs up to 22 miles in training. Murphy turned around half way and went back for slower people to make sure they finished. He estimates he ran 30 miles. Murphy is a good guy.

So, we're planning on running Thursday. This is all contingent on the walking-without-yelping and occasional knee-buckling concern. I'm seeing some of those shoulder problems Lacey and several other people have experienced. Also the sunburn problem, but that won't slow me down. Remarkably enough, the knees, like Matthew's, turned out to be no problem.
I've noticed a lot of people finding running marathons to be a big religious experience. Maybe if it was quite a bit cooler and there was a large magical escalator. I'm a little tired now. Maybe I'll look at this in a more positive light after a nap or two.
Lessons learned:
1. If you throw water on your head, the tylenol in your pockets will
melt.
2. Airborn ben-gay is a stupid idea.
3. We may have slowed a bit off our ideal pace, but we still beat roughly
22,000 people. 95% percentile. Righteous.
negative splits,
