3) Team run on Sunday November 22
1) SIGN UP FOR THE LA MARATHON - IT IS 75% FULL, DO IT RIGHT NOW AFTER YOU READ THIS EMAIL
2) Cross-training will be happening on Friday (11/20). We will meet at 7:05 am ON CROMWELL FIELD - expect the whole session to be about 40 minutes.
We'll be doing a track workout and some circuit training...
We've been posting the workouts online, if you're curious: http://www-scf.usc.edu/~marathon/crosstrain.shtml
Another option for cross-training is a spinning class; team captain Evan Snyder leads one at 5:30 on Friday evenings in the Robinson Fitness Room at the Lyon Center, there are other classes also run through Rec. Sports.
3) Team Run on Sunday (11/22):
We will be running on a wood chip trail that goes through some of the beach cities, this is a 10 mile route:
http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/ca/el-segundo/249328435906
>From the parking lot where we start we will run on the trail (it's called the Hermosa Valley Greenbelt), this trail goes for almost 4 miles, then we make a right turn on Herondo St., a left (south) on Harbor Drive and then a right on to Portofino Way, and then into the marina, turn around and come back -- check out the map on satellite or hybrid view to get a better idea
We'll go over directions again before we start, but look at the route a bit beforehand.
This is a long run, bring water with you.
Getting to the El Segundo start point: we will carpool, meet in the Denny's Parking lot at the UV at 730 am.
To offer a carpool ride or request one, go to the carpool section on the marathon team website: http://www-scf.usc.edu/~marathon/carpool/
- click on Sunday Carpool and follow the directions, the login is 'runner' and the password is 'runner262'
- PLEASE if you have a car, volunteer to drive for the carpool
Directions to the start of the route:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=801+W+Jefferson+Blvd,+Los+Angeles,+CA+90007&daddr=34.02164,-118.426055+to:3600+N+Sepulveda+Blvd,+Manhattan+Beach,+CA+90266-3633+(Fry's+Electronics)&geocode=FWIpBwIdMSHz-CndTdda5MfCgDG8OeAL26lC-g%3BFQghBwIdOfbw-ClP0206TbrCgDFFcRdfdfeM5A%3BFWpLBQId5W_x-CF3nfm0vW5s0Cm3-ofF-LPCgDGInBuTgEHS0g&hl=en&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=33.89938,-118.393757&sspn=0.007124,0.008336&ie=UTF8&ll=33.900903,-118.393167&spn=0.007124,0.008336&t=h&z=17&via=1
Essentially, you will head south on the 110, west on the 105, south on the 405, and then exit westbound on Rosecrans Avenue; from Rosecrans you can turn left on Village Drive and park somewhere in the Manhattan Village Shopping Center, but please note that our trail starts at the southwest end of the long skinny parking lot off Rosecrans (look for the Tin Roof Bistro on the satellite map), so park in this lot if you can.
Happy Running!
