My Work out Routine

I am extremely passionate about working out. My work out routine consists of many different strategies. I like to do cardio, strength training, stretching and mediation. I am going to break it down for you.

Cardio:
• Running/walk 3 miles everyday
• In the rain and cold weather, I like to work out on my elliptical trainers.

You might find that working out on an elliptical trainer is better on the knees rather than running on a treadmill. The pedals move in an elliptical motion, hence the name of an elliptical trainer. The design of an elliptical trainer is a great option for individuals who do extremely long cardio workouts and those with orthopedic concerns like back and knee problems.

Strength Training:
• Weights
• Bench press
• Free weights
• Dumbbells

While working out, make sure you have the right gym equipment. Such as good sneakers, Nike is a favorite of mine. I also think it’s important to be properly dressed. I wear a lot of Under Armor which makes you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. http://www.underarmour.com/

Some of my favorite sites:

Runner's World
Inside Triathlon

While working out is important, so is nutrition. Be sure to plan a healthy diet. The NIH site http://health.nih.gov/category/WellnessLifestyle

Some snack ideas:
-rice cakes
-fresh or canned fruits
-sliced vegetables or baby carrots
-dried fruit and nut mix (no more than a small handful)

Always remember:
• Eat sweets sparingly.
• Eat three meals every day.
• Have low-fat, low-sugar snacks on hand
• Eat breakfast every day.
• Choose whole grains more often.
• Select a mix of colorful vegetables each day.
