MAES-USC was founded in 2005 with the idea of mentoring High School students
who may not necessarily have the resources to know how to apply and eventually
succeed in college. We mentor sophmores from Animo Oscar de la Hoya High School
once a week throughout the year going over workshops about the SATs, College
Applications, Personal Statements as well as helping them with school work. We
also hold annual events for the students such as: Shadow Day, where our kids join
us at USC to see a day in the life of a college student; and Science Extravaganza,
where middle school students come to USC for a day for fun Science workshops.
Along with mentoring comes many perks for our general members such as BBQs,
retreats, t-shirts and parties.
We have Bi-Weekly meetings on Tuesdays at 7 PM for the Spring 2008 Semester,
room TBA. Please contact us at the email below if you have any questions.
(Please do not be discouraged by the name, most of our members are neither
Mexican-American nor Engineers, all are encouraged and welcomed to join)
