GIS: For the Perpetuity of Native American Cultural Awareness

What is GIS?

GIS stands for Geography Information System, it is a computerized mapping program. Different forms of GIS software include ESRI (ArcInfo), and GRASS (which is freely available on the internet). GIS is used for many purposes, such as real estate, archaeology and population information.

GIS and Site Documentation

With this project, we are working to create a map of the sacred landscape of the Luiseño. This will be useful to the Luiseño for education purposes as well as helping the San Luis Rey Band acquire federal recognition.
