NORMAN ROCKWELL v. ROCK 'N ROLL The craziest show you will ever see. ENSEMBLE CAST: PRODUCTION TEAM: BECAUSE: JUST HOW MANY TIMES CAN A COUNTRY LOSE ITS INNOCENCE? A collage of America today--scenes and songs and dances inspired by Norman Rockwell of the fifties, and scenes and songs and dances inspired by the installation artist of the present day, Jason Rhoades: Rockwell and Rhoades juxtaposed side by side—then and now, the fifties and the present, the red states and the blue states, where we grew up and where we live today, a piece that is, like America, permanently under construction. August 2009 SSP’s Premiere Animated ShortAugust 6th and 7th at 7:30pm*shown prior to UNDER CONSTRUCTION. Animator Jacob Veldhuizen presents a new animated short. Veldhuizen is a sophomore at Central College in Pella, IA, studying fine arts. He has been recogonized in the community with various scholarships and honors such as the Center for the Visual Arts's 2nd place Young Artists Award and the Wausau School District Superintendent's Art Scholarship. His work has been displayed at Wisconisn's capitol and in the Longfellow Administation Building. In the summer of 2007, he was named the Artist's Choice for the 2007 Chalk Festival. In the summer of 2008, he was the youngest artist to participate in a sponsored spot for the 2008 Chalk Fest. Veldhuizen is a promising young artist who has graciously agreed to lead SSP into the world of animated shorts.
