The Music

Vivaldi wrote approximately 500 concertos for different solo instruments and various combinations of instruments.  He was the first composer to use the three movement concerto form: FAST-SLOW-FAST.

His Concertos received descriptive titles.  A very well known Vivaldi concerto is The Four Seasons.  This exquisite musical masterpiece written in 1725 consists of four violin concerts with three movements each.  It is categorized as program music.

Each concerto represents one of the four seasons, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.  There is a story associated with each season to compliment the music that so beautifully illustrates each piece.
