ISE 525 Design of Experiments

Process Optimization Using Designed Experiments

This course is intended for individuals who have an interest in process or product development. We will discuss techniques for

investigating relationships between process/product design choices and performance

building mathematical models to predict process/product performance

finding the best process/product design

compromising multiple performance criteria

designing to protect performance against uncontrollable influences

Both traditional (statistical experiment design, empirical model building, ridge analysis) and non-traditional (Taguchi's robust engineering design) techniques will be discussed. Examples will be drawn from chemical, mechanical, and electrical design studies.
