Since it was found in
1987, KISA has carried on the rich traditions and
pride of USC
as well as a respected leader and representative
of the Korean students.
As a participant of USC 's International Students
Assembly (ISA), we also play a part in narrowing
the
gap between Korean and other students within the
school community.
We start each year with a renewal of the roles that
KISA has and will continue to carry out.
This responsibility has increased with the increased
attention and focus on Korea especially after
international events such as Visit Korea Year 2001,
2002 Korea Japan World Cup and the Busan Asian
Games. Acknowledging that we must also play a part,
KISA has and will continue to spread the culture
and traditions of Korea. We take this not only as
a goal and motive of the club, but also as a
responsibility put unto us as Koreans.
Throughout the year, the
activities and events that KISA sponsors are related
to the publication and
expansion of Korea. In order to bring together and
harmonize within the Korean community, the
General Meetings and Membership Training are prepared
for the time where old and new members
start together a new semester. This is followed
by the Academic Seminar as well as a place where
invited alumni come to further enlighten the students
on USC and academics. For Korea's
representation in USC 's international community,
KISA takes part in the International World Cup,
International Food Fair and International Movie
Week. Most importantly, we take pride in hosting
Korean Culture Night where everyone can experience
the deep heritage of Korea.
The warm responses and
aid we received after the successful hosting of
2002 Korean Culture Night
came not only from the school but also from the
Korean community. As a result, it became a cultural
event including the participation and attention
of over 500 people. For the following year, we hope
to
continue the expectations by calling on the contribution
of other communities and schools. Previous
achievements and successes that has been achieved
by KISA would not have been possible without
the generous help and sponsor of our alumni. All
of 2002-2003 KISA staff is looking forward to
devoting their time and energy in the advancement
of the Korean students, management of the
intricate network of relationships among the alumni,
and continued pride of the Korean Trojan family
in
the activities of the school. Your small attention
and aid will be a great beam of light that we can
look
at for further motivation and effort. Thank you.
