Have you ever heard Volusia County's nickname, the "Shark-Bite Capital of the World"? Our beautiful beaches, including the "World's most Famous Beach" (Daytona Beach, FL) were so dubbed after a record 22 shark bites in 2000.

On this page, you will find information about shark bites around the world, in the United States, and in Volusia County. And, just for fun, there's some information about how to treat and prevent shark bites. I once even heard of a "shark repellent" being tested in Volusia County.
