Dimensions of Multicultural Education

Education that teaches the value of cultural diversity.

Brief History  It began in 1960's with the Civil Rights Movement and with the problems with discrimination in the educational institutions.

From here the educational reforms started to be present

But it was not until the 1980's that the Emergence of "multicultural school environment" started to be practice.

Its Philosophy Multicultural education is a concept built on the ideals of freedom, justice, equality, equity and human dignity.

Overview: Multicultural Education is a reform movement: the goal of equal educational opportunities for all. Multicultural Education started  as part of the civil rights movement which was a concept built around assumptions, goals and principles rejecting the melting pot theory. Multicultural Education offers social, cultural and academic benefits.
