Hi There! My name is Karina Cabral

I am a first generation Latina student at the University of Southern California (USC). Currently, I am a senior majoring in education .
I was born in Monterrey Park, California, but raised in Mexico.
I came back to California at the age of 16 and finished my high school.
I completed my general education at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California.
I transferred to USC, September 2002.
I love to sing and dance.
I love to help students to achieve their goals.
I am working hard to get my B.S. and start teaching.
I have previously worked in a special program at Montebello High School with freshman students.
This program was called "Self-Management for the 21st Century."
As well, I am working for the Rossier School of education at USC and I am part of the Latino Teacher Project.
During my summers, I have done extensive research. In the summer of 2003, I was part of the McNair Scholar program. I conducted a research project using High School students as my subjects. This research will end in June 2005, until then the final outcome will be published..
Dr. Linda Serra Hagedorn has been my wonderful mentor for this research.
The focus of my research was to observe the students college readiness.
As for my academics, I have been very involved in different activities.
During the spring of 2005 I was part of the USC Madrid Center and now I am back and ready to start the last and the most challenging semester as I start student teaching.
